Your Skiing Area In Oberstaufen

There are four ski areas to choose from: 28 lifts and cable cars at the Hochgrat, Imberg and Hündle-Thalkirchdorf mountains and at Sinswang is an ideal beginner’s slope, which is perfect for the young ones and for those who are on skies for the first time.

From The Hochgrat Mountain Peaks Down A Steep Descent

The Hochgrat mountain is for the more experienced: from moderate levels of difficulty to advanced steep declines, these slopes are definitely a challenge for the more practiced skier. The highest point is at 1800 m and the Hochgrat is the most dominant of mountains along the range. The 4-seater cable car takes you to the summit where you can take in the fabulous views. Off piste is reserved for the more adventurous free riders and ski tourers who can enjoy the deep snow off the north face.

Family Skiing Holidays In Bavaria

The Imberg ski area is simply brilliant for families: the young ones can have fun all day at the Ski Kinderland, located on a sunny high plateau, keeping them warm. For other skiers are an abundance of slopes and lifts, all connected with each other, with machines producing artificial snow to guarantee good snow conditions. There is an 8-seater cable car and a heated 6-seater chair lift, with a protective glass hood and child safety technology, bringing you safely to the summits.

Double Fun- Hündle Area And Thalkirchdorf Area

The two ski areas are now adjoined. On the wide even slopes of the Schwandlift you can still feel the butterflies in your tummy, whether you are a beginner or an experienced skier. An extra kick is when you ski at night on the floodlit slopes. A longer ski run is from the Prodellift, 1700 m to the middle mountain station. Snowboarders appreciate these wide spacious slopes too.

Sinswang -The Beginners Luck

Future ski champions can get their first taste of success at the Sinswang area: with wide sunny slopes suitable for beginners, here the skier can acquire a liking for this sport. There are qualified ski instructors present for support. Carvers and snowboarders find this area also ideal to practice their skills on.

Romina Prestel › Hi Kevin! Usually the snow starts to fall in December. If there is enough snow for the preparation of the slopes the skiing areas open about the 20th of December. Let us know if we can help you with further information. King regards

Martin › Hello, we are thinking of Oberstaufen as a mixed ability group all of whom have been skiing before and some are good skiers. We have been to Winterberg for last 2 years. How does Oberstaufen compare and are the mountains genuinely linked up or do we have to walk in places? Thanks.

Ramona Kleemann › Hi Martin, we are happy to hear that you consider Oberstaufen as your next destination! Our 3 main skiing hot spots in and around Oberstaufen are not directly connected. The characteristic "Hochgrat" mountain with a height of 1,834 m is an insider tip for free riders and deep snow skiers, the six-kilometer ski run is the longest far and wide. On the downhill slope at the “Hündle“ even Ski World Cup races were carried out. Most of the ski slopes here are categorized “blue” or “red”, and therefore ideal also for less ambitious athletes. At the “Imberg” in Steibis and “Hündle/Thalkirchdorf” we also have snow canons which provide additional snow, if there is not enough snowfall. A four-seater and two eight-seater cable car, a highly modern six-seater and heated chair lift aswell as 22 t-bars open up to about 50 km fun on the slopes. If you have a look at our skiing map - The Imberg Ski-Arena has 12 ski/chair lifts/t-bars, which are connected - The Hündle offers about 8 connected cable cars/t-bars. Convinced? :) Well, then we are looking forward to welcoming you here in our beautiful skiing resort!

Anne Morris › Holidaying at Mondi hotel in December to ski. How do we get to the slopes without a car and where to hire skis please.

Katharina Klawitter › Dear Anne, thanks for your kind request. Grat, that you're planning your stay in Oberstaufen and MONDI Hotel. In front of the hotel you'll find a bus stop. The bus line 95 brings you directly to the Imbergbahn and the ski area of Imbergarena. The other ski areas, for example Hündlebahn / Thalkirchdorf or the area for kids and beginners at Sinswang can be reached by other busses. For those you have to take the bus to the bus station at the train station first and the change the bus. The schedules for the busses you find here bus schedules Please notice that we don't have the latest schedules for the winter season yet. I think we get them on beginning of December. If you have any further questions please contact my colleagues of the Guest Service with info@oberstaufen.de or telephone +49 8386 93000 Looking forward to seeing you. Best Regards, Katharina
